MECHANICALS

The factory 1,582cc flat-four *742844* was refurbished with a reconditioned crankshaft in 1992-93 when a 1,750cc ‘Big Bore’ piston and cylinder set was installed. Additional work included rebuilding the downdraft Weber carburetors, and installation of an electric fuel pump with an aftermarket pressure regulator. A Crane ignition system with a Volkswagen distributor was added in October 1996. The original speed transmission shift very well. The original disc brakes stop the car adaquately+.
